Every student in Singapore is taught to know that Sir Stamford Raffles is the man who founded Singapore in the Secondary 2 history textbook, Understanding Our Past.
In the project, the history text in Understanding Our Past is reconstructed to re-examine and understand the people behind the construction of Singapore? They are the migrants who construct our buildings, take care of our children, sweep our roads, they plant and prune the trees…What if we call them Raffles? What if we use the term Raffles to refer to people who help build Singapore?
